Personal Care

Bramble Lodge is registered as a Residential Care Home with the Care Quality Commission. We are able to offer personal care to people with needs similar to that which a caring relative would provide. Residents are registered with West Hallam Medical Practice which is the local GP Practice.

We also extend our care to a group of people who have dementia. In order to ensure the highest levels of care for this group, all care staff, along with the management team, have undergone extensive training with accredited courses in this area. All new staff receive training as part of their Induction period. This extends to support and ancillary staff. The routine during the day, for the residents with dementia, is structured in a way that ensures we meet their needs effectively. During each of the early and late shifts, staff encourage social interaction and activity in a positive way that ensures consistency.

Facilities are available for visits to or from a Dentist, Optician, Chiropodist, Community Nurse, and Physiotherapist.

Specially equipped bathrooms are available for the use of all residents. All bathrooms have a specialist baths or showers installed, which can accommodate the needs of most residents to make bathing more enjoyable and less stressful.

Hoists and other equipment to assist with moving and handling are available. Where necessary, fully trained staff will use these items for any moving and handling manoeuvres.

We operate a Keyworking system. Each resident is assigned a Keyworker. At present we have 9 Keyworkers. They are someone who the resident will come to know very well. They will get to know the resident’s likes and dislikes and assist and support the resident in any way they can.

A detailed Care Plan and Risk Assessment is agreed with all residents. This will not only cover the resident’s care needs but social activities, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs. This will be reviewed regularly and provide the basis of the care provision.
